Frank S. Snyder, age 98, of Dixon, Iowa, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Frank was born in Dixon on November 5, 1910 to Simon and Mamie (Arnould) Snyder. Frank and Marvel Sinksen married in Davenport on October 6, 1934. Marvel died on September 5, 2004.
Frank was a softball and baseball coach for 30 years, a member of the Dixon Cooperative Elevator board for many years, a Dixon Memorial Park board member for several years, a 16-year Dixon City Council member, a 17-year Scott County landfill board member, and a 17-year bus driver for the North Scott School District. He was also a deacon and elder of the Big Rock Church. His hobbies were playing cards, selling cars and delivering meals on wheels. He delivered the Sunday Quad City Times for many years.
Funeral services for Frank Synder will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Iowa, with Reverend Lynne Bisson officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 on Monday, March 16, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Frank Snyder is survived by his two sisters Harriet Britton of Davenport, Iowa and Mamie Patersen of DeWitt, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was proceeded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and two sisters.
