Frederick P. Dircks, age 75 of Wheatland, passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 25, 2014 at 10:30 A.M at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Reverend John Cofield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday October 24, 2014 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Fred was born on September 19, 1939 to Wallace and Evetta (Hormann) Dircks in Lowden, Iowa. He married Darlene Mordhorst on August 8, 1959 at Peace Church in Bennett. Fred was a member of the teamster's union, a former member of the Lion's Club and former Wheatland Ambulance EMT. He loved fishing, playing cards with friends and working in the field. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, and also loved local racing and following Justin Kay. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Joel (Kay Jones) Dircks of Wheatland, Stacey Dircks of Bettendorf, Steve (Julie) Dircks of Coral Springs, FL., and James E. Maurer of Fort Myers, FL.; sister, Judy Proesch of Lowden; grandchildren, Dylan Dircks, Breanna Chumbley, Garrett Schneider, Jillian Dircks, Danielle Dircks, Kenzie Dircks, and Carson Dircks; great grandchildren, Kenny Chumbley and Myla Chumbley; and many nieces & nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Stuhr; son, Scott Dircks; and step son, Jeff Maurer.
