Frederick H. "Fred" Edler, age 86, of Stanwood, Iowa, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton from declining health. Fred was born April 26, 1920, in Rural Lowden to Fred and Emma (Boedeker) Edler. Fred married Selma Alyea on February 3, 1946, in Tipton. She died June 2, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 2, 2006, at First United Church Of Christ in Tipton, Iowa, with Reverend David Lorenzen officiating. Burial will follow at Tipton Masonic Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by VFW Post #2537 and American Legion Post #123, both of Tipton. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, October 1, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, a son, and 3 sisters. Fred was survived by daughters: Ginger(John) Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids--Kathy(Bill)Bails of Stanwood---Faye(David)Young of Atalissa, brothers: Myrl (Naomi) of Clarence and Edwin (Shirley) of Tipton. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
