George L. Walling, age 77 of Stanwood, passed away on Monday June 27, 2022 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Memorial services will be held on Friday July 1 at 11:00 A.M at the Stanwood Union Church with Pastor Ryan Roth-Klinck and Pastor Ron Lashmit officiating. Casual dress is requested. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M until service time at the church. George was born on January 3, 1945 to Jack and Winfred Melba Heitz Walling in San Francisco, CA. He married Martha Lynn Bennett in 1964 before divorcing in 1981. He married Darla Lehrman in 1986. George is survived by his wife Darla; children Dennis, Matthew (Danielle Yutesler), and Jeffrey of Stanwood, Michael of San Mateo, CA, and Kathleen of Gold Hill, OR; grandchildren Angela, Carter, Spencer, Gabriel, Alex, and Michelle; and many nieces & nephews. George honorably served his country in the Army, Army Reserves, and Air Force Reserves. He was also a Salvation Army minister. Amongst George's many jobs, he worked at FMC Co. for 18 years and US Cellular in customer service for 5 ½ years. Above all else his passion was woodworking. He loved being in his shop working on many projects, including wooden toy trucks. He was a United States Soccer referee (over 1100 games) and was a soccer coach for over 10 years.
