Geraldine E. Schutt, age 97 of Calamus, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday October 29, 2021 at Westwing Place in DeWitt. Funeral services will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus on Monday November 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Roberta Pierce officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland.
Geraldine was born April 14, 1924 in the village of Claremont, Minnesota to Louie and Laura Miller Behne. She was married to John Schutt on September 9, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. He passed away on July 19, 2000.
Survivors include her children; Gary (Ann) of Colona, IL and Judy (Tom) McMahon of DeWitt; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and brother Lyle Behne of Milan IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters; 7 siblings; grandson; and a great grandson.
Geraldine was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. She also was a member of the North Auxiliary of Calamus, where she previously held the term of Vice President and also the Legion Auxiliary of Calamus. Geraldine was a homemaker and was known for her cooking, especially her chocolate chip cookies, and she would bake cakes for any wedding in the family. She had been a cook for the Calamus School District and also the Iva Gay Nursing Home. Geraldine would always look forward to the church bazaar where she would make homemade noodles to sell. She loved her family dearly and never liked to miss a party! She also loved to play bingo and would always order chicken wings whenever out to eat as that was her favorite food.
