Gertrude A. "Trudy" Osborn, age 77, of Calamus, Iowa, died on December 24, 2011 at Genesis West Medical Center, Davenport. Gertrude was born December 12, 1934, in Cortland, NY to Arthur Ford and Gertrude (Boyce) Ford. Gertrude married Joe Scanlan on September 1, 1956. She married Dick Osborn on March 16, 1974 in Davenport. There will be no funeral services. Visitation will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until noon, with a luncheon immediately following at the Calco in Calamus. She will then be cremated and inurnment will be at a later date. Trudy retired from Oscar Mayer & Co. in 1992. She then ran the Daybreak Convenience Store in Wheatland with her husband for the next five years. In July of 1997 she completely retired and became a golfer. Life was good for her. She loved her family, her friends and her golf game. What more could she ask for? She is survived by her husband, Dick; daughter Joanne (Chris) Hart of Worcester, MA; Mike (Joni) Scanlan of Sterling, IL; stepdaughters (whom she truly loved) Joy (Duane) Osborn-Daniels, of Newton, IA, Jacki (Doug) Hallendorff, of Chicago, Julie (Tim) Welsh, of Bettendorf, IA, and Joni Osborn of Davenport, IA; brothers John (Mary Ellen) Ford, of Horseheads, NY, Andrew (Leslie) Ford, of Los Angeles, and Lee Ford of Jacksonville, FL; and 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, who died in 1976.
