Gertrude Hartwig, age 104, of Clarence, Iowa, died March 5, 2010, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Gertrude was born October 26, 1905, in rural Clarence to John and Ida (Licht) Ibsen. Gertrude married Walter Hartwig December 19, 1926, in Clarence. He died in 1985. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Iowa, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, March 9, at Chapman's in Clarence. She is survived by a son-Gene (Janice) of Alexandria, Minnesota; a grandson - Rick (Rose) of Menlo Park, California; a granddaughter - Robyn Hartwig of Portland, Oregon; and a great-grandchild - Alessandra. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers-Chet and George Ibsen.
