Gertrude Hoffmeier, age 89, of Lowden, Iowa, died February 5, 2010. Gertrude was born August 21, 1920, in Lowden, Iowa, to Emil and Emma (Meier) Stolte. Gertrude married Herold Hoffmeier on April 19, 1942, at Lowden. He died September 15, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, February 8, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Organization. Gertrude had worked as an aid at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had been active in various church organizations. She was a member of the Lowden Amvets and she loved quilting, baking and sewing. She also loved music. Gertrude is survived by daughter Julayne Hoffmeier and partner Carolynn Munson of Sacramento, California; 3 sons Bruce (Karen) of Newton, Brian (Patti) of Arvada, Colorado, Barry (Julie) of Lowden; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Gladys Scheeper of Lowden, and Luverne (Bob) Fiala of Goeleta, California; and brother Larry (Virjean) Stolte of Lowden. Gertrude was preceded in death by parents, husband, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.
