Gladys M. Pruess, 77, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids from a sudden illness. Gladys was born on September 21, 1928, in Clarence, Iowa, to Henry and Emma (Griem) Pruess. Gladys Pruess never married. Funeral services for Gladys M. Pruess will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 10:30 AM at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, Iowa. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Reverend Glenn Hunt will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben Pruess, Adam Pruess, John Pruess, Christopher Pruess, Dennis Pruess, and Dan Pruess. Visitation will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence from 9-10:30 the day of the funeral. Gladys had worked as a secretary and also was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Gladys M. Pruess is survived by nephews Dennis (Anita) Pruess of Clarence, Dan (Nancy) Pruess of Marshalltown, a niece-in-law Judy Pruess of Davenport, a sister-in-law Margaret Pruess of Clarence, and grand nephews and neices Ben Pruess of Mundelein, Ill., Adam Pruess of Kirksville, Mo., Renae Pruess of Ames, Ia., John Pruess of Clarence, Christopher Pruess of Ames, Ia., Sonia Pruess of Cedar Falls, Ia. She was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glenn Pruess, nephew Dave Pruess, and neice Molly Pruess.
