Glen "Gov" A. Gadke, age 75 of Stanwood, passed away on Thursday July 14, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 18, 2016 at 10:30 A.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with Reverend Ron Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery with a lunch at the Stanwood Union Church after. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 17 from 3-7 P.M at Chapman's in Clarence with a Masonic Service at 7.
Glen was born on April 2, 1941 to Paul and Fern (Kimberling) Gadke in Cedar Rapids. He married June Wagner on May 9, 1964 at the Stanwood Methodist Church.
Glen served in the Navy, was a member of the Stanwood Masonic Lodge for 50 years, a 51 year member of the Stanwood Fire Department, and was a founding member of the Stanwood Ambulance Service. He was a D.O.T officer for over 30 years, an avid car show enthusiast, and an animal lover.
He is survived by his wife, June; son, Chad (Kim) of Tipton; sister, Elaine (Jim) Bainter of Laurie, MO.; and grandchildren, Kyle, Keely, and Karlee Gadke.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan; and grandson, Kameron.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Stanwood Fire Department.
