Harlan Edward Petersen, age 86 of Monett, MO, passed away Sunday November 5, 2017 at Cox Monett Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 19, 2017 at the Wheatland Community Center in Wheatland, Iowa from 3-5 P.M followed by a dinner. A private family service will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.
Harlan was born May 5, 1931 in Inland Township, Bennett Iowa to Harry and Martha (VandeBrande) Petersen. He attended Lizard Creek Country School and married Shirley Spickermann on February 26, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1995. Harlan was a Korean War Veteran and went on the Honor Flight of the Ozarks to Washington, DC in 2015. He farmed by New Liberty, Iowa and did custom work for Farm Service. He retired to Bella Vista, AR in 1991. Harlan married Lily Ann Stonehouse/Tade on October 28, 1995 in Bella Vista and they later moved to Monett, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughters, Deborah (Gary) Upp and Lori Boedeker; son, Duane (Jimmi) Petersen; step children Kathy (Scott) Swanson, Karren Stonehouse, Kristine Haley, Kimberly (Douge) Sprague, Kelly (David) Rhea, Kurtis James (Cindy) Stonehouse and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley; and great grandson, Trevor Trumbo.
Harlan enjoyed farming, traveling, hunting, fishing, wood working, playing cards with friends & family and going to the Monett Senior Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monett Senior Center or The Honor Flight.
