Harlan R. Pruess, Jr., age 70 of Lowden, passed away on Monday June 20, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 23, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence at 10:00 A.M with Reverend Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 22, 2016 from 3-7 P.M at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
Harlan was born on February 3, 1946 to Harlan Pruess, Sr. and Luella (Smith) Pruess in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Elaine Wilken in 1967. She died in 1995. He married Ginger Diehl on July 5, 1997 in New Boston, IL.
Harlan was a farmer, grain elevator owner and land trader by trade. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lowden Amvets, 3/30 Country Club, the Italian Club in Greenville, Mississippi; the Greenville Country Club, and was a former past president of the Lowden Park board. He was an avid Oliver tractor collector and also was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger; daughter, Michele (Jay) Proesch of Clarence; son, Todd(Deborah) of Lowden; grandchildren, Taylor, Brody and Karlie Proesch, Costner Pruess and Jeffrey Eschbach; mother-in-law Esther Diehl; step-daughter, Brenda (Steve) Moseley of Lowden; step-son, Allen (Laura)Jackson of Chicago; step-grandchildren, Brandy and Dylan Webb; and step-great grandchild Aubrey Webb.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elaine; and grandson, Todd Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the 3/30 Country Club in Lowden or St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
