Harlan R. Muhl, age 84, of Wheatland, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 24, 2011. Harlan was born August 3, 1926, in Toronto, Iowa to John W. Muhl and Esther (Ott) Muhl. Harlan was married on March 1, 1947 to Elaine Levien at Dixon, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 28, 2011, at St. Paul's United Church Of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa, with Reverend John Cofield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Church Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, March 27, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Honorary Pallbearers are Nathan Steingrubey and Benjamin Shuger, pallbearers are Zachary Stankee, Eli Stankee, Lucas Stankee, Justin Hagen, Dylan Hagen, Chase Hagen, and Tanner Hagen. Harlan had worked as a meter reader for Alliant Energy. He was a 60 year member of Wheatland American Legion,served on city council in earlier years. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sporting activities. He was an avid Bears,Cubs and Hawkeye fan. He is survived by wife Elaine; daughters: Jacqueline (Robert) Stankee of Camdenton, MO and Tamara (Wade) Hagen of Wilton; nine grandchildren: Zachary, Eli, Lucas, Mallory (Nathan) Steingrubey, Justin,Nicole (Ben) Shuger, Dylan, Chase, Tanner; 4 great grandchildren: Gage, Trae, Cohen, Lainey Rae. Harlan was preceded in death by parents, daughter Connie and Brother Howard.
