Harold A. Fischer, age 94, passed away on Sunday February 25, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at the St. James Cemetery in Toronto. Visitation will be held on Thursday March 1 from 4-6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Harold was born to Albert and Lillian Busch Fischer on September 17, 1923. Harold loved to fish, his garden, animals, and playing horseshoes in his younger years. In Harold's farming years, he bragged about having the straightest rows, and was also very proud of his work at Alcoa. He is survived by children; Don (Shar) Straka of Wheatland, Richard (Rita) Straka of Hampton, IL, and Deb (Don) Naughton of Solon; grandchildren, Dawn (Todd) Engler, Dave (Susan) Straka, Collin (Amy) Straka, Mechelle (Joe) Janz, Moe (Joe) Wertz, Brenna Choisser, Tom (Teri) Straka, and Brad (Ken) Straka; 14 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Judy Meyer of Dubuque. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Matilda in November of 2017; step-son, James; step- daughter, Mary Lou; grandson, Steve; and granddaughter, Erin and 2 brothers Ronald and Kenneth.
