Hazel Steinke , 99, of Lowden, Iowa, died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home Lowden, Iowa. Hazel Steinke was born on February 10, 1906 to Robert Krenz and Josephine Mowry in Massillon, Iowa. On February 17, 1926 she married Irwin Steinke at Davenport, IA. Hazel attended Iowa State Teacher College and taught Rural School for 2 years before her marriage. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Lowden. Hazel is survived by a sister, Myrtle Jeppe of Wheatland and nieces Jackie Wulf of Gladstone Michigan and Dixie Lindstedt of Escanaba, Michigan. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Evelyn Robley and Mildred Baumgarten and brother Oliver Krenz. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Chapman Funeral Home-Wheatland. Reverend Victor Young will be officiating with burial to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery-Lowden. Visitation is from 9:30 A.M til service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials can be given to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
