Obituary

Henry Charles Niermeyer, age 94, of Lowden, Iowa, died February 6, 2010, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Henry was born August 30, 1915, in Lowden to William Niermeyer and Anna (Strackbein) Niermeyer. Henry married Marilyn Pauls September 24, 1950, at Lowden. She died May 20, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Zion United Church Of Christ in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Barbara Muhs officiating. Burial will follow at Van Horn Cemetery in Lowden. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Henry and his wife Marilyn worked together on their dairy farm until retirement. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was very active in Zion United Church of Christ, singing in the choir and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Henry had been a longtime 4-H leader and was a member of the Lowden Historical Society. He is survived by his daughters: Ellen (Steve) Waldorf of Dewitt and Eileen (John) Delich of Springfield, Illinois; sons Dwight and David of Lowden; 6 grandchildren Emilie, Ryan, Joshua, Anthony, Nicholas, and Jordan; and 3 step-grandchildren Anna, Betsy, and Molly. Henry was preceded in death by parents, wife Marilyn, brothers Wilfred and Erwin and step-sister Emogene Conrad.
