Herbert Bryan, Jr., age 71, of Bennett, Iowa, died at Mercy Hospital-Iowa City on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Herbert was born October 25, 1938, in DesMoines to Herbert, Sr. and Avis (Stookey) Bryan. On March 5, 1960, at Bluegrass, Iowa, Herbert married Carol Dahl. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Pastor Janet Shotwell officiating. Inurnment will be in Inland Cemetery in Bennett at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 24, at the Funeral Home. Herb served in the Navy from 1955-1959. He worked as a painter and decorator and retired in 2007 from St. Ambrose University in Davenport. His favorite things to do was golfing and fishing and getting together with friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol; son Dan (Suzanne) of Zionsville, Indiana; grandchildren Hannah, Christopher, and Connor; and a brother Garey (Pat) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and a son Tim.
