Herold H. Hoffmeier, age 87, of Lowden, Iowa, died September 15, 2007, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton after a lengthy illness. Herold was born September 17, 1919, in Lowden to Henry and Ida (Wiebel) Hoffmeier. Herold married Gertrude Stolte April 19, 1942 at Lowden. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Herold was a 1937 graduate of Lowden High School and had worked as a farmer and also owned Hoffmeier Dairy. He also worked as a custodian at Trinity Lutheran School and Church and at Clarence-Lowden Schools. Herold was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Luthern Church and was a lifetime member. He was active in the church and the community. Herold is survived by his wife Gertrude; daughter Julayne Hoffmeier and friend Carolynn Munson of Sacramento, California; and sons Bruce (Karen) of Newton, Brian (Patti) of Arvada, Colorado, Barry (Julie) of Lowden. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Herold was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
