Hubert W. Meier, 90, of Clarence, Iowa, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence, Iowa. Hubert W. Meier was born on January 19, 1915 to Walter Meier and Louise Stolte in Lowden, Iowa. On November 29, 1934 he married Evelyn Kesebertg. Hubert had farmed north of Clarence and then worked for the Clarence Cooperative Company for 30 years in which he was the General manager for 20 years. In 1977 he retired and moved to Minnesota where he lived until his wife's death in 1991. In 1992 he moved back to Clarence. Hubert is survived by a son, James of Nevis Minnesota, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, also a special lady friend Margaret Stingley of Clarence. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Alan, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 23nd, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at St John's United Church of Christ. Reverend David Mears will be officiating with burial to follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday August 22nd, at Chapman Funeral Home-Clarence. Memorials can be given to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
