Imogene Smeltzer, age 90, of Lowden, Iowa, died Thursday August 6. Imogene was born July 27, 1919, in Olin, Iowa to John and Lena (Kreger) Jurgensen. Imogene married John Smeltzer on August 21, 1941, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. In life, Imogene was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Lowden Legion Auxilliary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto, Iowa. Burial will follow at Wilcox Cemetery, Viola. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, August 9, at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Imogene is survived by her sons Russell (Judy) of Sigourney and Dennis of Waterloo; daughter Leslie (Tom) Miller of Mentor, Ohio; sister Deloris Eganhouse of Wyoming; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brother Everett, and son Vincent.
