James "Shag" Debner, age 65, of Clarence, Iowa, died at his home October 9, 2009. Jim was born August 27, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, to Wilbur and Viola (Hipshur) Debner. James was a carpenter and served in the Navy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home of Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence With graveside military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm Monday October 12, 2009, at the Chapman Funeral Home. James is survived by step-daughters Kim Shebetka of Clarence, and Kelly Bixler of Cedar Rapids; step-sons Kevin (Kip) Wenndt of Clarence and Kerry Wenndt of Michigan; 6 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; sisters Barb Mooney of Whittier and Joann DeMoss of Marion; brother Robert Debner of Clarence; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and wife Cheryl.
