James "Jim" E. Lafrenz, age 57 of Wheatland, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, November 26, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence on Friday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Jim was born January 3, 1966 to Otto Harvey and Rose (Knapp) Lafrenz. He married Melissa Eiselstein on September 18, 1999 in Dixon, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Melissa; children Brianna Lafrenz of Clinton, Matthew of Olin, and Michael of Davenport; granddaughter Alana Strunk; siblings Carolynne Lafrenz of Grand Island, NE, Heather Owens of Maquoketa, Dawn (David) Adney of Lowden, Rick (Terri) Kroemer of Waukee, IA; and Randy (Ana) Kroemer of Titusville, FL; and his step-mother Marilyn Lafrenz of Lowden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bobbianne.

Jim was a hardworking man that would give you the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return. He was a jack of all trades – master of none, that put his family first and humored them with his dry dad jokes. Jim enjoyed playing pool, video games with his kids, teaching his kids how to cook, or just being outdoors. His granddaughter was his world and his favorite saying was "you can do anything you can put your mind to".
