Janet M. Pelley, age 79 of Bettendorf and formerly of Toronto, passed away on Friday January 19, 2018 at River View Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at 10:30 A.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Cemetery in Toronto with a lunch following at Heinee Jo's in Toronto. Visitation will be held on Monday January 22 from 4-6 P.M at Chapman's in Wheatland. Janet was born on August 27, 1938 to Charlie and Mary (Case) Nicely in Quincy, Illinois. Janet was a proprietor of Westside Tavern for many years in Toronto, Iowa. She loved to garden and took great pride in her flowers. Janet also enjoyed mushroom hunting and canning fruits & vegetables, and was an avid reader. Ms. Pelley served her country in the United States Navy. She is survived by her sons, Parrish of Oceanside, CA, Dana (Joy) of Toronto, IA, and Patrick (Archana) of San Diego, CA; daughter, Paula (Denny) Dull of Le Claire, IA; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Manny (Kathy) Nicely of Lowden and Mark (Karla) Nicely of Oxford Junction; and sisters, Mary Anne (Kenneth) Mostaert of Lowden and Karen Nicely of Davenport. Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
