Obituary

Jean Goldsmith, age 64, of Clarence, Iowa, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jean was born in rural Tipton, Iowa, on May 12, 1944, to Leonard and Wilma (Kunde) Schwitzer. Jean married Jerry Goldsmith in Bennett, Iowa, on October 18, 1963. Jean had worked as a volunteer at North Cedar Schools for over 10 years. She had been active in 4-H as a judge on both the county and state levels. She also was very active in St. John's Church and sang with the Sweet Adelines years ago. Funeral services for Jean Goldsmith will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00pm at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. A memorial fund has been established. Jean is survived by her husband Jerry; daughter Kelly Goldsmith of Cedar Rapids; sons Michael of Omaha, Nebraska and Mark (Tracy) of Logan, Iowa; 3 grandchildren Grant, Ava and Jack; sister Joyce (Lee) Coppess of Stanwood and brother Bill (Deb) Schwitzer of Tipton. Jean was proceeded in death by her parents.
