Jean D. Oldorf, age 94 of Clarence, passed away on Monday July 27, 2015 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Jean was born on June 10, 1921 to Sylvester and Esther (Eldstrom) Vandeberg in Danvers, Minnesota. She married Melvin Oldorf on February 15, 1941 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. He died in 1994.
Jean graduated from Lisbon High School in 1939 where she also played basketball. She loved to dance, life on the farm, raising her family and was also a great cook. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
She is survived by her sister, LaVonne Bova of Lisbon; daughter-in-law, Donna Oldorf of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Tom (Margaret) Rohwedder of Wyoming; grandchildren, Kim (Jerry) Sorgenfrey, Forbes Oldorf, Noelle (Damon) Vaughn and Suzanne (Chris) DeWolf; great grandchildren, Drew Oldorf; Riley, Lindsay and Weston DeWolf; Kayla (Andrew) Buck; Cameron (Katie) Sorgenfrey; Chris Chester and Jozie Vaughn; great great grandchildren, Callie and Jack Buck; special friend, JoAnn Wenndt of Clarence; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis; daughter, Judy; and 2 sisters.
