Jeanette Ruprecht age 86 died Monday February 6, 2006 Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her father Henry Holdorf and mother Martha Sievers Holdorf. Born February 9, 1919 on a farm in rural Toronto, Iowa she married Carl Ruprecht on June 10, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated from Marycrest College. Jeanette started her teaching career in the Liberty Township country school and completed twenty four years of teaching in the Clarence-Lowden School district, She served on numerous county and community boards and committees and was a 4-H leader for many years.
Jeanette's special interests were bird watching,conservation,and spending time at the family cabin on the Wapsi River. She cared deeply for the environment and teaching people to appreciate it, recently receiving the Iowa Governor's Award for outstanding teaching in environmental ecucation.
Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa for medical research.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements with Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Survivors include her husband,Carl;three children, Martha Mattes and husband, Joe, of Roswell,Georgia;Jeff and wife, Judy, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Sally Hess and husband, Gene, of Wheatland, Iowa; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sister, June Wentworth, of Wheatland, Iowa; and special niece, Wendy Blake and family of Grand Mound, Iowa.
It was Jeanette's wish that memorial donations be made to the Lowden Library, Lowden Historical Society, Trinity Lutheran Youth Group, or the Cedar County Conservation Board.
