Jeanette Sawyer, 87, of Onslow, Iowa died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Clarence Nursing Home after a short illness. Jeanette Sawyer was born on July 8, 1918 in Seattle, Washington to Adolph Gollobith and Olive Kent. Jeanette Sawyer married Russell Orr July 8, 1938 at Dubuque; they divorced in 1955. She married Gordon Sawyer in March of 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma. He died March of 1984. Jeanette was a 1936 graduate of Monmouth High School. She had operated JNG Caf in Onslow for 10 years and then opened Jeanette's Sewing Room and made draperies for many years. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Chapman Funeral Home-Clarence. The funeral service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ-Clarence on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Reverend David Mears will be officiating. The burial will be at Dayton Valley Cemetery-Clarence. Jeanette Sawyer is survived by sister, Virginia Burmeister of Springville; daughter, Nancy Kress of Clarence; two grandsons, Rodney (Julie) Kress of Clarence and Jeff (Jennifer) Kress of Eldridge; three great grandchildren, Logan, Taylor and Carson Kress; step-son, Wayne (Pat) Sawyer of Delhi; and three step-grandchildren Kelly Lechtenberg, Wayne Sawyer and Gordon Sawyer. Also a special friend Tom Jensen of Anamosa. She was preceded in death by both husbands; sister, Josephine Davis and stepson, Rick Sawyer.
