Jennie L. Steffens, age 91, of Lowden, Iowa, died on August 1, 2011 at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Jennie was born December 24, 1919, in Cedar County to Cecil Wooder and Edna (Leslie) Wooder. Jennie married Melvin Steffens on March 30, 1940 at Oxford Junction. He died in 1986.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Rev. Timothy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 3, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Music will be provided by Mrs. Margery Wiebel as the organist and vocalists by Trinity Men's Choir. Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan Matias, Mitchell Mahmens, Mac Mahmens, Taylor Steffens, Shawn Yulga, Cameron Steffens, Connor Steffens, Brody Bascom, Gavin Bascom. Pallbearers are Scott Mahmens, John Kroemer, Rick Steffens, Mike Steffens, Steven Dare, Jason Bascom, Kirk Christopherson, Melvin Steffens.
She is survived by daughter Nancy (Howard) Kroemer of Lowden; 2 sons: Joe (Karen) of Swisher, Bruce of Coralville; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
