Jess A. Axline, age 68 of Lowden, passed away on Monday February 26, 2018 at his farm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 3 at 10:30 A.M at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden with Reverend Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at the Lowden Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held on Friday March 2 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Jess was born on September 5, 1949 to Joseph Sr. and Melva (Jayne) Axline in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Debra Wenndt on May 4, 1974 at Zion UCC in Lowden.
Jess was a life long farmer who loved his kids, grandkids, cows, and his dog Max. He was a workaholic, the love of Debbie's life, and a generous man. Jess drove for RVH Trucking on the side and enjoyed being on the farm.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; son, Darin (Janelle) of Lowden; daughters, Angela (Dustin) Peet of Cedar Rapids and Sheila (Travis) Bowling of Maquoketa; grandchildren, Emma & Kaden Axline, Tatum & Antin Peet, and Jadyn & Easton Bowling; brothers, Joe Jr. of Manchester, Terry of Hiawatha, and Dale of Lowden; sisters, Neta Coonradt of Solon, Marilyn Merrill of Anamosa and Patty of Cedar Rapids; special person, Jenel Wenndt; and his dog, Max.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Steve; and sisters, Judy, Diane, and Lola.
