Graveside services for Joan John, 76, of Vista, California, (formerly of Stanwood) will be 11 am, Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Stanwood Cemetery.
Mrs. John passed away peacefully, August 19, 2010, at the Glenbrook Hospice Center, Carlsbad, California.
Joan Koch was born August 26, 1933, to Edwards and Bernice (Graft) Koch in Stanwood. She married Gordon Licht in 1952 and later married Richard John of Vista, California, on October 30, 1992.
Joan worked at Ropa's Grocery Store in Stanwood and later as a bookkeeper at Cedar Country Coop, Tipton.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mindy Licht of Sterling, Illinois; daughter and sons-in-law, Brenda Kohl, Monticello, Iowa; Cyndi and Mike Baumbach, Moline, Illinois; Lisa and Brad Broten, Oceanside, California; Cristina Swinton, Nashua, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ken and Joan Koch, Stanwood; and Bob and Wilma Koch, Springfield, Missouri.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Jimmy, and son-in-law Ron Swinton.
Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund benefiting the San Diego Hospice Center in San Diego, California, who provided caring support to Joan and the family. Memorials may be sent to Cyndi Baumbach, 1930 2nd St, Moline, Illinois 61265.
