Joe H. Mente, age 88 of Wheatland, passed away on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at Wheatland Manor. There will be a private memorial service at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery in rural Wheatland.

Joe was born on June 24, 1934 to Wilbert and Pauline (Kahl) Mente at their home in Clinton County. He married Beverly Rogers on November 16, 1952 in Wheatland.

Joe was a lifelong farmer, model train enthusiast, and baseball fan. He enjoyed attending spring training in Arizona every year, traveling with Bev, playing golf, and having coffee with the guys at J.R's Place. Joe also loved attending his grandkids' sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of Wheatland; sons Scott (Kelly) of Wheatland and Greg (Vickie) of Anthon, IA; daughter Barbara (Dave) Boeckmann of Wheatland; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brother Glen (Mary Jo) of Ames.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
