Johanne K. "Chris" Williams, 72, of Clarence, Iowa, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Chris was born May 23, 1940, in Johnson County to Herbert Christensen and Lahoma (Powers) Christensen. Chris married John "Jack" Williams on September 22, 1962 at Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Karmen Jamison officiating. Burial will follow at Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Monday at Chapman's Funeral Home. Chris was a member of the Clarence Methodist Church, where she served as secretary for 38 years. She was an avid seamstress, including making wedding dresses, and also made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She is survived by husband Jack; daughters Kathy (Rohan) Houlden of Greensboro, N.C. and Pat (Gerald) Moore of Stanwood; 7 grandchildren; brother Rick (Pat) Christensen of Tipton; sister Betty (Herb) Tholen of Tipton; sister-in-law Janet Cook of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerry.
