John H. Dircks, age 88 of Clarence, passed away on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. John was born on February 10, 1929 in rural Clarence to Richard and Della (Hartwig) Dircks. He married Joyce Shontz on July 22, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. John graduated from Clarence High School and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He farmed most of his life around Clarence. John liked to read, play cards, and bowl. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed sports in general. John also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, G. Bradley (Lisa) of Clarence; daughter, Cynthia (Douglas) Christensen of Lincoln, NE; granddaughter, Ashley Christensen; and grandsons, Kael, Kyle, & Weston Dircks. John was preceded in death by his parents; brother; and two sisters.
