John Edward Feddersen, age 95 of Clarence, passed away at the Clarence Nursing Home in the late night hours of Tuesday May 5, 2026. There will be a funeral service honoring John at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence on Saturday May 9 at 11:00 AM with Ron Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Clarence, at a later date.
John was born March 1, 1931 in Clarence, Iowa to John H. and Anna (Burmeister) Feddersen. He was married to Darlene Maske in 1955 and later divorced. John was then a soulmate to Linda St. John for over 30 years before her tragic death in January of 2023.
He is survived by his children: Randy Feddersen of Cedar Rapids, Melanie Feddersen of Chicago, Christine Croghan of Mt. Vernon, and Wendy (Ralph) Wartell of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Kurtis Feddersen, Amanda Feddersen, Sydney Feddersen, Anna (Kevin) Dibbern, Connett Croghan, Taylor Wartell, and Blake Wartell; and great grandchildren Henry and Kora Dibbern.
John was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Raymond and Ella at birth; and sisters Esther Miller, Elsie Walter, and Irene Ause.
John served his country very proudly in the Korean War in the Army and was wounded in combat, thus receiving the purple heart. A lifelong farmer, John understood the value of dedication and perseverance. In addition to farming, he worked at Wal-Mart and later dedicated 23 years of service to Rockwell Collins before retiring at age 90, an achievement that spoke to his reliability and pride in a job well done. John was, above all, a family man. He was a loving father and grandfather who cherished time spent with those closest to him. Known for his kind heart and friendly nature, John never met a stranger. He always had a smile ready and could strike up a conversation wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. In his younger years, John enjoyed traveling and bowling. He was also a devoted fan of the Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.
