John W. Stock, age 80 of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly in his home on Sunday March 2, 2014. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Harlan Gillespie officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery following the luncheon at the church. John was born to John and Viola Schafer Stock on June 29, 1933 in Clarence. John and Lois McClellan were married December 27, 1953 at the Clarence United Methodist Church, and just celebrated 60 years of marriage. John was a graduate of Clarence High School class of 1951 and a graduate of Coe College with a degree in business administration. He was a Broadcasting Financial and Business manager at Channel 2 and WMT 600 for 38 years. John was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Business Consumers Bureau. He was also a charter member of the Institute of Broadcasting and Financial Management, including the board of directors. John enjoyed traveling. He was a devoted husband to Lois, and John's family meant everything to him. Survivors include his wife, Lois; son, David (Lori) of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Julie (Rodney) Kress of Clarence; and grandchildren, Evan and Jason Stock and Logan and Taylor Kress. He was preceeded in death by his parents.
