June M. Garton, age 97 of Anamosa, passed away Friday May 22, 2026 at the Anamosa Care Center. There will be a graveside service held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville on Friday May 29 at 10:00 AM.

June was born June 4, 1928 on the family farm near Olin, Iowa the fourth child of Samuel “U.S.” and Myrtle (Jackson) Farrington. She was united in marriage to Darrel T. Garton on January 19, 1949 in Stanwood. He passed away August 31, 2019.

Survivors include her daughter Karen (Bill) Heneks of Mechanicsville; daughter-in-law Kathie Garton of Morley; grandchildren Aspen, Autumn, Ian, Ryan, Jordan (Tammy), Stacey (Nate), and Karey (Travis); great grandchildren Leila, Ivan, Jaeden and Liam; sister Norma Wilson; brother Wayne (Judy) Farrington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrel; son Warren Garton; daughter Marcia Powell and her husband Easton; sister Joyce Farrington; brother Glenn Farrington and his wife Helen; sisters and brothers-in-law Alta Mae and Ron Gilbert and Ferne and Chester Eales; brother-in-law Bob Wilson; nephew Steve Farrington; and great nephew Wyatt Farrington.

June attended Evergreen County School and graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1945. She was a devoted farm wife for over 70 years, always by Darrel’s side helping on the farm. June loved flowers, gardening, and being outside. She especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren for walks along the creek, sharing stories and playing games along the way.
