Kelly Don Meyer, age 57 of Big Rock, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 23, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, surrounded by his wife and children, following a motorcycle accident. Kelly was able to give back and be an organ donor per his wishes. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 28 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Reverend Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Rock Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Wheatland Community Hall. Visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M at St. John's UCC in Clarence on Wednesday July 27. The family requests casual dress, as that is what Kelly would have wanted. Kelly was born on March 3, 1965 to Tuffy and Vivian (Kokemuller) Meyer in Davenport, Iowa. On March 5, 1994 Kelly married the love of his life Becky Smith in Las Vegas, NV. Together they raised two beautiful children. Kelly enjoyed adventure and anything fast. He could fix anything. He raced stock cars for many years and enjoyed snowmobiles in the winter. He always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a huge amount of friends from all walks of life. Kelly was a burn survivor after a home explosion where he almost lost his life in 2019. In the three years following the accident he received his biggest blessing in becoming a papa to three amazing grandsons (Papa's Posse as he called them). Kelly will be incredibly missed and remembered forever by his wife Becky; children Kory (Shelby) Meyer and Kelsey (Randy) Butterbrodt; grandsons Knoxx (3), Kyler (2) and Nash (6 months); sisters Kathy (Donny) Borchers and Karen (Phil) Eichorn; brother Rich (Connie) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
