Kenneth R. Hamer, age 71 of Cedar Rapids, passed away at his home on Tuesday September 25, 2018. A private family graveside service will be held at the Clarence Cemetery. Ken was born on November 18, 1946 to Allen and Viola (Sweet) Hamer in Cedar Rapids. He married Barbara Yock on May 19, 1970 in Cedar Rapids. Ken served his country as a member of the Air Force in the Vietnam War. He was a ham radio operator, a member of the Cedar Valley Amateur Radio Club, and participated in the community emergency response program. Ken enjoyed going out to meet and spend time with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Karen Michalec of Cedar Rapids; uncle, Morgan Hamer of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Laura Kiester of Cedar Rapids; nieces Abby Bowman and Amy Stone; nephews Rod & Troy Michalec; sister-in-law, Sharon Stewart; and brothers-in-law Francis, John and Kenneth Yock. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Hamer.
