Larry Joe Werner, age 70, of Wheatland, Iowa, died at his home Sunday, October 18, 2009. Larry was born September 25, 1939 to John C. Werner and Rachel (Gerri) Miller. He married Sharon Smith on September 22, 1962, in Tacoma, Washington. No funeral services will be held. Cremation rites have been observed. The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. The family requests no flowers, instead memorials can be made to Genesis Hospice, 611 North Second Street, Clinton, IA 52732. Larry joined the Army in 1957 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, until completing his tour in 1962. He worked at International Harvester in East Moline, Illinois, for 30 years until he retired in 1995. Larry is survived by his wife Sharon of Wheatland; son Todd of Wheatland; daughter Tina (Roger) Newbanks of Chapman, Kansas; daughter Tracy of Wheatland; grandchildren Alexis Martin Hinde of Eugene, Oregon, Matthew Newbanks of Chapman, Kansas, and Nick Werner of Wheatland; and great-granddaughter Madeline Martin Hinde of Eugene, Oregon. Also surviving are 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and a daughter in-law.
