Lavern Bergmann, age 92, of Clarence, Iowa, died October 3, 2010, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Lavern was born September 16, 1918, in Rural Clarence to George and Augusta (Helmold) Bergmann. Lavern married Rosalyn Meewes May 3, 1941, at Memphis, Missouri.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at St. John's United Church Of Christ in Clarence, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Lavern Donated His Body To University Of Iowa Department Of Anatomy. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to till service time at the church on Saturday. Arrangements have been made with Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Lavern was a retired farmer. He had served on the Clarence School board, Clarence Telephone Co. board, D.H.I.A. board, Cedar County Assessor board of revue, and St. John's church council.
He is survived by his wife Rosalyn; daughters-Diane (Carrol) Miller of Plato, Texas, and Julie (Wayne) Chapman of Springville; sons-David of Marion and Brian (Becky) of Clarence; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Norman.
