Leroy W. Pruess, age 85, of Clarence, Iowa, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at St.Lukes Hospital Cedar Rapids. Leroy was born July 4, 1921, in Clarence to Paul and Helen (Bergmann) Pruess. Leroy Married Mardell Rathjen March 2, 1947 in Davenport, she died Sept. 12, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at St. John's United Church Of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Pastor Lynn Butterbrodt officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Church Cemetery With Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, at Chapman Funeral Home And From 1:00 P. M. Until Service Time at the Church On Sunday. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Harlan Sr and Lelan. Leroy was survived by his daughter Becky (Steve) Wendt of Clarence, his sons Ronald (Lynne) of Toulon, Illinois and Steve (Vicki) of Clarence. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Leroy served in the Army during WW II and was retired from farming. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the American Legion in Clarence. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.
