Lloyd E. Hasselbusch, age 96 of Clarence, passed away on Saturday August 23, 2014 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at 1:30 P.M at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday August 25, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence from 5-7 P.M.
Lloyd was born on May 13, 1918 to Ernest and Amelia (Goldsmith) Hasselbusch in Clarence. He married Doris Hoffner on June 5, 1971 in Clarence. She died November 29, 2009.
Lloyd was a member of St. John's UCC in Clarence. He was very generous and gave donations to many charities. Lloyd enjoyed golf, bowling, was an avid card player, and loved baseball. He graduated from Clarence Consolidated School in 1935, attended AIC Business College in Davenport and graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1971. He was drafted into the Army and WW II on September 14, 1941, and was a member of the American Legion Post #286 and the Fremont Masonic Lodge of Stanwood. Lloyd retired from banking on December 31, 1982, and was a past president of the Cedar County Bankers Association, former member of the Clarence Lions Club, Clarence Commercial Club, and served on the Clarence Town Council for four years. He also had served as an officer and board member of the Clarence Nursing Home for 30 years.
He is survived by his nieces & nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 2 sisters.
