Louis Grimm, age 80, of Stanwood, Iowa, died on March 24, 2010, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Louis was born January 16, 1930, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Louis and Dorothy (Opel) Grimm. Louis married Shirley Wagner November 24, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Burlington. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Stanwood Union Church, Iowa, with Pastor Christine Wagner-Hecht officiating. Burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a Masonic Service at 7:00pm. Memorials can be made to Freemont Masonic Lodge #616 -Stanwood, St. Luke's Hospice, Stanwood Union Church, Stanwood Fire Dept., and Stanwood Ambulance. Lou graduated from Muscatine High School and received his AA from Muscatine Jr.College; he received his BA from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and masters from University of Iowa. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Lou was a teacher/coach for 11 1/2 years in Kohoka, Missouri,and Burlington, Iowa, and for 29 years was principal at Lincoln Community Schools, Stanwood. He was a member of Stanwood Union Church and had sang in the choir, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, consistory and shrine. He was a member of NEA, 50-year member of IHSAA and HSGAU. He also was president of Ditto's liver and onion club. Lou was a 27-year member of Stanwood City council and was charter member of STEDCO. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He is survived by wife Shirley; daughters Lori Pekarek (Dan) of Tampa, Florida; and Dr. Suzanne Grimm and Dale Kulinski of Adell, Wisconsin; son Matthew Grimm of Iowa City. Louis was preceded in death by his parents.
