Luella Maxine Bixler, age 98 of Clarence, passed away on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at the Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M til service time. Luella was born on December 9, 1915 to Oscar and Mae (Reasland) Mohn in rural Lisbon. She married Everett Bixler on November 30, 1946 in Lisbon. He died on August 13, 1986. Before her marriage Luella was employed by various agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Rock Island Arsenal. She was a homemaker and worked part-time as a secretary for a local attorney and as bookkeeper for her husband's trucking business. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Mary) of Clarence; daughter, Cheryl Droste of Goose Lake; grandchildren, Craig (Kelly) Bixler, Merideth Bixler, Lynn Bixler, and Maria (Chris) Darnell; and great grandchild, Raigan Darnell. Luella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Matthew Droste; and son-in-law, Tom Droste. The family would like to thank the staff at Clarence Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Luella.
