Margaret Gehrls, age 81, of Marshalltown and formerly of Clarence, Iowa, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at her home after a sudden illness. Margaret was born on October 11, 1926, in Clarence, Iowa to Myron and Galilee (Moore) Britcher. Margaret married Edwin Gehrls on September 30, 1972 in Lowden; he died in 1997. Margaret had worked as a school cook in the Clarence-Lowden School district for many years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Clarence United Methodist Church, in Clarence, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, March 7, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Margaret is survived by her daughter Barbara Riddle of Cedar Rapids; son Robert Burgess, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters Laura Oberholser of Clarence and Becky Long of Cedar Rapids; and brothers Richard Britcher of Marshalltown, Harold Britcher of Cedar Rapids, Gary Britcher of Tuscon, Arizona, Billy Britcher of Iowa Falls, and Henry Britcher of Davenport. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edwin.
