Margery Wiebel, age 96 of Lowden, passed away on July 10, 2026 at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden with Pastor Dan Redhage officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Margery Eloise Kelting, daughter of Louis and Mary (Copp) Kelting, was born November 11, 1929 at Wheatland, Iowa. A graduate of Wheatland High School and Iowa State Teachers College, she began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse. She then taught at Lowden Elementary School and substituted in area schools for many years.
Marge married Melvin “Mel” Wiebel on July 22, 1951. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2015.
A lover of all types of music, Marge shared her passion with her family and the many piano and organ students she taught over the years. For many years, she served as organist and choir accompanist at Trinity. An accomplished pianist, she also enjoyed accompanying the Lowden Community Chorus, high school musicals, and many special community events. She could sit at the piano and play for hours—no sheet music required. Simply request a song, and she could play it. The melodies she created and the memories she inspired will live on.
Marge thoroughly enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s various sporting events and activities. She loved playing cards and games…so many intense, competitive card games and contests were played at the “Century Farm”! She also was an avid reader and lover of animals, Jeopardy and Wordle, which she watched and played daily.
Survivors include: daughter Mary Lou (Roger) Jaussi of Novi, MI, sons Kevin (Susan) of Allen, TX, Kent (Michelle) of Eldridge, David (Dawn) of Cedar Rapids, Dean (Nicole Cerio) of Van Horne and Glen (Shawna) of Cedar Rapids.
Fifteen grandchildren: Brian (Lauren) Jaussi, Brett (Annie) Jaussi, Stephanie (Connor) Duffy, Alex (Ann) Wiebel, Austin (Hallie) Wiebel, Stephanie (Tim) Bauer, Angela (Greg) Welker, Madison Wiebel, Morgan (Haley) Wiebel, Whitney (Kyle) Kuenstling, Kyley Wiebel (Pacer Langguth), Alyssa Wiebel, Luke Wiebel, Kollin Wiebel and Kaleb Wiebel.
Twenty-four great-grandchildren, along with sister-in-law Carolyn Hanneman and many nieces and nephews.
Margery was preceded in death by her husband Mel, her parents, and sisters Marie (Mike) Schmidt, Ellen Horstman and Mildred (Raldo) Riedesel.
Memorials may be designated to Trinity Organ Fund or Camp Courageous.
