Marie Ibsen, age 93, of Clarence, Iowa, died December 12, 2010, at Clarence Nursing Home. Marie was born August 19, 1917, to Chas. H. and Hermina (Debner) Burmeister, and was raised on a farm south of Lowden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 on Tuesday, December 14, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, and one hour before service at the church.
Marie married Chester Ibsen on December 14, 1939, and they raised three children on farms north and south of of Clarence. Marie worked side by side on the farm with Chester and she also worked at Cornell College, the Tipton Nursing Home and the Clarence Nursing Home. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, including the King's Daughter's Circle and Women's Fellowship. She loved rural life, gardening, cooking and baking, and later in life began painting with oils and acrylics. She and Chester were well known for their painted wooden craft pieces.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Larry) Mostaert of Clarence; sons Robert (Helen) of Lowden and Dean (Pamela Boldman) of Des Moines; grandsons Bart, Ryan and Craig Mostaert and Brian and John Ibsen; great-granddaughters Sarah, Krista, Alison, Emily, DayLee and Mariah Mostaert; and one great-grandson, Connor Ibsen.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, parents Chas H. and Hermina Burmeister and a brother, Hubert Burmeister.
