Marion E. "Marty" Hymes, age 84 of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday July 25, 2021. Funeral services will be held at Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion on Friday July 30 at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Perry officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery with military honors. Marty was born July 6, 1937 in Unionville, MO to Marion and Daisy Albertson Hymes. He married Dorothy Fisher on July 8, 1956. She passed away on July 1, 1987. Survivors include his son Jeffrey of Westminster, CO; daughters Beverly (Gale) Speer of Cedar Rapids and Kimberly (Chris) Schmidt of Ankeny, IA; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sisters Daisy (Jerry) Griffin of Sylvis, IL and Naomi (Mike) Sellers of Sigourney, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother Al; and sisters Bonnie and Zeola. Marty served his country in the Navy and was a former fire chief for the City of Clarence.
