Marjorie Miles, age 101, of Stanwood, Iowa, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence, Iowa. Marjorie was born on April 28, 1907 in Clark, South Dakota, to Charles and Tina (Kahl) Horn. Marjorie married Harlan "Rube" Miles on December 15, 1932, in Rock Island, Illinois. Marjorie was an important part of her family's work as they farmed until they moved to Stanwood. Rube died in 1988. After his death, Marjorie continued living in Stanwood until she moved to the Clarence Nursing Home. She was happy and healthy in the home with a great mind and memory. Her family and friends were very dear to her. She will be missed immensely because of her love and great memory for her family and friends. Funeral services for Marjorie will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial will be at Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, April 27, 2009, at the funeral home. Marjorie Miles is survived by her sisters Mildred (Roland) Mingst of Clarence and Dorothy (Stan) Williams of Urbandale; 6 nephews Bill (Chris) Mingst, Bob (Linda) Mingst, Terry Goldsmith, Scott (LeAnn) Goldsmith, Doug Goldsmith, Mike (Ann) Goldsmith; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 4 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Marjorie was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, and a sister.
