Marjorie Pearl Rekemeyer Moffit, age 96 of Tipton, died Sunday October 29, 2017 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Private family graveside services will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. Marjorie was born on August 1, 1921 in rural Bennett to Louis and Hannah (Stanton) Rekemeyer. She was baptized, confirmed and a member of Peace Church in Bennett. Marjorie and her family moved to rural Tipton in 1939, the same year she graduated from Bennett High School. On October 3, 1946 she was united in marriage to Carson Churchill Moffit at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived on the family farm in rural Clarence until 1977, when they moved to their new home in Clarence. While on the farm, they had a florist shop, and Marjorie baked wedding cakes for twenty years. Previously Marjorie had been a 4H leader, counselor, and choir director for the junior group at the Methodist Church in Stanwood. After moving to Clarence, they joined the United Church of Christ, King's Daughters and Women's Fellowship where she held several offices. Marjorie had a multitude of interests which included counted cross stitch, needlepoint, ceramics, painting in water and oil, growing and arranging flowers, and collecting antiques. She loved to cook and entertain, and her special interest was decorating and baking for Christmas. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Dean (Jean) Rekemeyer of Anamosa and her sister, Lois Moon of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Warren, Dale, and Harlan; sister, Gladys Achey; sister-in-laws, Marilyn and Ellouise Rekemeyer; and brother-in-laws, Edward Achey and Richard Moon.
